Ovi Maps Racing available in Ovi Store
Ovi Maps Racing is now available in the Ovi Store and, for a limited time, it is available for free. The game, which is available for Nokia's S60 5th Edition (Symbian^1) phones, is a top down style racer. The aim is to set the fastest possible lap times. There's a number of built in tracks with global leader boards, but the standout feature of the game is the ability to create your own tracks based on your current location. Using Ovi Maps (Navteq) mapping data you can create, and then race on, a track based on the map of your home town. Read on for more details.

Racing around Westminster
Ovi Maps Racing has been developed by RedLynx, a well known mobile games developer (responsible for N-Gage's Pathway to Glory). We'll have a full review of Ovi Maps Racing on the site shortly.
"We had a chance to create a completely new type of mobile game with Nokia, which utilizes real life maps" says Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. "As with previous titles developed for Nokia, Ovi Maps Racing has really allowed us to augment our knowledge pool."

That's a great concept and looks like a fun game.
In the review, please cover the following:
1) How responsive are the touch screen controls?
2) On the n97 mini, can you also use the keyboard to control the game?
3) Which control scheme is more enjoyable?
krisq:1) Very nice. Left side of the screen - turn left, right side - turn right. That's all.Quote:

Also, the game is free for now so you should try it for yourself.

Not really - I get slow framerate (15-20fps ?) and unresponsive controls (and Maps Racing does not use accelerometer for control).
Lack of hardware accelerated graphics combined with slow processor is in fact a no-go for gaming in my opinion. Resistive touch screen is another no go for gaming.
Uninstalled....

The slow framerate is not a factor in the gameplay and the controls are very responsive on my phone. I'm not a gamer (I have a life) but this is good for the odd five minutes. Nokia give it for free and people still whinge?

@ unreg ,why on earth did you buy a nokia touchsceen then??Great little game top marks nokia from a very satisfied 5800 owner on v40 and an early adopter to s60v5. I have enjoyed the rocky road to this stable stage and im glad i didnt jump ship.cant imagine it been as much fun if everything was perfect from the begining! seems like im reaping the rewards now with free navigation, kinetic scrolling and little gems like ovi maps racing. cheers nokia ;)

malerocks:Dont know of any way the installation files can be downloaded to PC. However, you can definitely re-download to the same device through the OVI store app, if you uninstalled the game / app or reset you device.Quote:

Regarding transfering to another device, there is no official way to do it. I have however heard that some people have got it done by contacting support.
IMP:

PedroBCN:
